Its coming along . I added some thin white drippy paint and its beggining to gain mass . I can see shapes i can use and its exciting at this point .

This is the latest progress on my new large canvas , SIlberhorn . It wont stay so drippy , im using acrylic in wet washes at the moment for transluscency . 150x100cm .

Swiss trip 2011

Back from two weeks in the Swiss Alps It was amazing , thankyou to my hosts Peter and Annaros Muhlemann for making it special .

Whist I was there I took thousands of images which im still editing and filing and I managed some plein air watercolour and graphite sketches .

Snow leopard

Next painting up on the wall ( I hang the canvas there to paint ) is a snow leopard . I wont share it yet because the background is at the uncoordinated messy stage and it hasnt got its fur on , I will update with a progress report when it looks a touch more presentable . :-)

New painting , oil on canvas 150x100cm . The Alp is the Monch in the Bernese Oberland of Switzerland , Its part of a new UNESCO world heritage site . Im letting it sit and dry for a bit whilst I decide wether to add a flock of Alpine Choughs . I see these birds all the time at altitude and it feels a bit naked without them .

I forgot to update , ive been so busy . My painting Melting Jungfrau was shortlisted for the David Shepherd wildlife artist of the year award in the Mall galleries London this june . It not only sold on the night but also won the wild places category :-)

My sketchbook is erratic , what goes into it pleases me personally and is never for sale because the images in it are not finished pieces , but rather an ecclectic collection of images that inspire me in some ways . it may be shape or colour or it may be simply the only thing i can see in front of me at the time . I learn by doing and i do it in my sketchbook . These are in soft pastel , pastel pencil or acrylic .

New thoughts
Good thoughts
quiet and still is my mind

Sometimes i feel very intensely the mountains of my mind , thoughts drift..... :)
then the glacier fresh breeze drifts through and my thoughts scatter , im left spellbound , lashed by spindrift and captured in crevasses , enthralled in ice and devoured by the magnitude of what im seeing , feeling , painting , missing , craving , loving . Only there am i free . only on her slopes am i me .
